Indian sellers can join Walmart Marketplace through the official Sell from India programme. This guide sticks to what Walmart publishes, starting with marketplace.walmart.com/india-sell-on-walmart. It does not invent referral percentages, warehouse fees, or document lists beyond those pages.

What Walmart says the programme offers

From the India sell page, Walmart highlights:

• Access to US shoppers on Walmart Marketplace
• No monthly or setup fees on the programme messaging (you pay a referral fee per item sold; details in Seller Help)
• Onboarding with Indian documents and no US tax ID required for the path described
• Payouts to an Indian bank account via partners Payoneer or PingPong
• Fulfilment flexibility: seller-fulfilled or Walmart Fulfilment Services (WFS)

Minimum qualifications (India)

Walmart's India page lists items needed for account setup, including:

• Supporting documents that verify business name and address (such as bank statements or utility bills)
• History of marketplace or ecommerce success
• Return shipping address in the US
• Payment processor through Payoneer or PingPong

Follow the prompts in Seller Center; when asked for a US tax ID, Walmart's India page says sellers without one should select no and submit business proof instead.

Registration and verification

1. Start from the official India page and Walmart's Getting Started / registration flows.
2. Complete business verification with accurate legal name and documents that match.
3. Set payout via Marketplace Wallet / Payoneer / PingPong as offered.
4. Configure shipping and returns (US return address is required).

Fulfilment options

Walmart Fulfilment Services (WFS)

WFS is Walmart's end-to-end fulfilment (storage, packing, shipment, returns). The India page states there are no minimums or maximums in the programme copy, and may show time-limited fulfilment discounts. Read the live offer terms; promotional discounts are not permanent.

For international WFS, Walmart's FAQ on the India page notes:

• Walmart is not the importer of record; if you export from India to the US, you are responsible for duties and import taxes.
• Walmart does not act as ultimate consignee in the sense described on that FAQ; if you lack a US EIN you need to name another business as appropriate.
• Preferred carriers for WFS pick up from a US warehouse, not from the Indian port. You still need a freight forwarder or carrier to move goods from port to the assigned WFS facility.
• WFS labels require GTIN or UPC; Prep Services can outsource prep for a fee when offered.

Seller-fulfilled

You may use a shipping provider that meets Walmart's shipping and returns requirements. Walmart also references Ship With Walmart (SWW) partner rates (for example FedEx) on the India page.

Product codes (GTIN / UPC)

Walmart states that some categories (toys, books, branded items, and similar) need UPC/ISBN/EAN/GTIN. Some handmade/handcrafted items may qualify without codes via a partner support exemption request. Raise a case from your seller account if you need an exemption.

Referral fees

Sellers pay a referral fee (commission) as a percentage of gross sales proceeds based on product type. Walmart points to Seller Help for the schedule. Open Seller Help after registration (or public fee tables Walmart provides) and date-stamp what you used. This article does not invent category rates.

Duties and import responsibility

Per Walmart's India FAQ: if you export items from India to the US, you are responsible for duties and import taxes. Price landed cost separately from referral fees. Confirm IOR arrangements with your forwarder or counsel for your specific shipment.
